We have been following a number of threads on the Chef Talk Cafe posts. I don't normally like to post as a company on bulletin boards but it seems that a number of you might be interested in TV FOOD BOOTCAMP happening in January of 2002. At this course trainees will go through 4 days of media training classes with video taping sessions and an unprecidented fifth day of personal auditions for producers of food shows being flown in from all over the U.S.

I just checked the web site. Wow, that's pretty steep price for a chance at a job... Too bad, I could be a great host!

Yes, Anneka, it is expensive. Our two-day program is $3000 plus expenses {hotel, airfare, meals and food prep}. The TV Food Bootcamp is for four days of training and all expenses except airfare are included {hotel, transportation to/from the training, all meals & food prep}. This also includes all audio, video, & studio equiment for the video taping sessions. We have booked with Embassy Suites, so that each trainee will have their own suite with plenty of room to relax after the day's training. The most exciting part of the program is that on the fifth day the trainees have the unique opportunity to audition for producers for various parts of the United States.

We are very sorry if the cost of the program is prohibited for you, we worked very hard on all the logistics, equipment and supplies needed to get the cost as low as we possibly could.

I've got five episodes of my local access cable show, The Grouchy Gourmet, in the can. Can I send that in instead of the six large?

Unfortunately, just like part of the incentive to coming to the training camp is the chance to audition for the producers, part of the incentive for the producers is that they know the people they are coming to see have been trained. If you have production video of your talent that you feel has merit, send a few short clips to some production companies that produce food shows. You could also send a clip to the Food Network. If it gets seen by the right person and it's good, you always have a shot.
