Starting out to be a personal Chef and be frustrating but alot of fun at the same time. And one of the main keys, wich you nailed right on the head is promotion. Like anything else, you have to start up a client base, start small. Maybe do a small party for a close friend, and have them invite people from there work and so on. And go from there, pass out some cards and see how it goes. I'm sorry I cant give you more advise then that, but when I first started out, I went the Peronsl Chef route, and thats how I got my client base and it took off very well.
