I made it to Babbo this May, and I feel that the review is valid. The food was inspiring, and the service was impecible, but the issue of crowding I feel would detur all but the true fans off the food (or of the loud alternative music) from making a second trip. I would go back in a second mind you (if I didn't live on the west-coast of Canada) because I feel that the negative aspects mentioned are a deliberate safegaurd against Babbo becoming a stale boring resturaunt with an insipid clientele.
As a side note, my girlfriend and I walked in without reservations and were seated within five minutes at one of the four tables left for 'first come first serve'. It was a busy night, as I'm sure every night is, and the food, wine and service was as good as I've had. |
