Lightbulb Internet/Dial-up Ordering

One of my supplier has just move on to the internet and is trying to get me to place orders in "real-time" through internet or a dial-up system. Is anyone using using these systems?? If so, any comments.

I think internet ordering is great! I've used it for Sysco, produce and seafood purveyors. YOU HAVE TO KEEP IT UPDATED!!! If you are properly updated, it's great--you know about out-of-stocks, substitutions, etc. now instead of waiting for delivery. You keep a current, accurate pricing guide. Now I'll warn you - I like the ones that give you a confirmation number once you have sent or transmitted the order--that way it's guaranteed.

Use the systems, I think it's much easier to keep an accurate order list. Sysco's also has an inventory function--the inventory function was updated a year ago and is much more user friendly now.

Sometimes if you've got an in with the purveyor they will give you a computer to use -- not necessarily state of the art or anything - but enough to run your necessary programs.

Good Luck with your decision!

Lynne

Just to clarify, this is apparently a new system where NONE of the data is held on your office hard drive. It's a 100kb program that you run while on the internet and you gain access to your account through a couple of password and login scripts.
Great idea, as you enter orders, you get out of stock messages and the system questions you if you do something stupid like order a case instead of a piece.

I just got it going today, it's working GREAT!!. You don't have to wait for a download or anything.

I am using eSYSCO and really enjoying it. I am a recent convert from their Customer Companion system that did require lengthy updates, almost daily. This new system is more whistles and bells, but it is a bit easier to navigate. I prefer the eSYSCO over their desktop Customer Companion.
Hope this helps.
