Honestly I eat twice a day, both staff meals where our chef makes us sit down and enjoy a meal prepared by all of us. We work 12 hrs a day 5 - 6 days a week and on my time off, I run or play squash to deal with the imbalance that my passion has brought me to. Im skinny, only because of what I do or maybe that just me. But really, heavier cooks might have problem keeping up with the rest of us.

It's real important for chefs to stay healthy, actually it's important for all, but for chefs especially for the kind of work they do. It's so tempting in the kitchen to just eat and eat, and at the end of the day, who really wants to go workout or do anything except for crack open a few beers and watch TV and fall asleep on the couch. The next best thing is diet I guess. Eat right, you probably walk about 2-3 miles in the kitchen already. PS 100folds, how many ways can you do eggs?

For awhile my arms were getting significantly toned from putting dishes up on this really high shelf but lately my midsection is turning into like soft polenta. It sucks! I imagine myself looking like a duck in a few more years (waddle, waddle, skinny legs, round belly) if I don't try to work out at least 2x a week. Usually I do whatever will motivate me, whatever! it could be doing a stupid workout video for 20 or 30 minutes, going to the driving range, or taking a simple walk around the park. Convenience seems to speak to me. So in that philosophy, I don't make a goal of working out everyday. It won't happen. Too tired from work. I am very pleased with myself if I workout every other day. I keep the workouts short and doable. My goal is not to look like a long distance runner but just be at a normal weight and keep my body flexible and healthy. That's so important!!!! I think whatever job is out there, there is the problem of gaining weight. It's a lifestyle more than the job itself b/c look at nurses, construction workers, secretaries, teachers...a lot of them are fat.
