Default Are letters of recommendation important?

How important are letters of recommendation? Is it important to get one from every employer? Is it important to have one to attach to a job application?

I am gearing up to start looking for a summer job and my parents are bugging me to get a move on.

Default hi, fun shall it be to be a chef

Hi, for sure letters of recommendations are important, especially when you are still young in the industry. It gives a certain confidence to the person employing you. However the person signing the recommendation letter and recommending you should be from the industry or maybe a teacher from your school.
