Hi,

Has any of you used the ultraviolet/glueboard traps for the back of the house? I've got a major fly problem (recent floods in the area created a fly haven!) and I need to do something fast. Any recommendations?

The major purveyors now sell food grade insecticides in aerosol cans.

other than barriers like screens, sticky strips are the only cheap solution. Then there are air cutains and the uv traps.

I have used the UV light traps with great success. If you go through Ecolab, they will install and service them for you. I worked at t nonAC kitchen in the woods, and the kitchen and dining room each had a light, and we had almost no flies or other flying insect problems. Much better and safer than sprays, and cleaner to use.

not allowed in kitchens in my area-something to do with "bug splatter and debris".

One thing you could try-
Get a brown paper bag and blow it up with air. Tie it at the top and hang it outside the doors. The flies think it is a bee/hornet nest and stay away.
Believe it! We used this at a butcher shop where I used to work and it really helped.

wait till the flys land and spray IT with vegolene that makes it nice and lubed up so they cant fly = SPLAT

Thanks for all the responses. I purchased a couple UV traps with glue boards and they seem to be working. We can use them, but not the zappers in the kitchen area.
