Default flying with shrooms

I'm teaching a wild shroom cooking class next weekend and wanna take dried shrooms (not an issue) and fresh wilds (BIG issue) on the flt.

Latest word is no ice/gel packs but frozen peas and corn.....fresh wilds are so fragile.....I figure between leaving home and getting into Chapel Hill I'm looking at 8 hours. I also figure the shrooms should be put in my suitcase and sent to the hold......

Anyone got any ideas on how to bring them along with as little damage as possible?

I'm leaving my knives at home, figure I can use the ones at the school.
Thanks...

Default Ship em'

I dunno Shroomgirl, sounds scary bringen' them babies on board. What's you cargo anyway. How fresh are they. The older the are the less firm and more apt to bruising. I find it hard to even get a 5# box of chanti's to the distributor at a day old. If you have lobsters, or, chickens(laitipourus),or even some boletes they might be firm enough for the ride( I'd go small vented styro cooler, taped up, with paper bag, flatish, for the shock and moisture, and just enough paper towel to hold all in place). If they're delicate I'd send them overnight, packaged much the same way. You might want to bring enough dried just in case. Or have a local backup plan

Peace,
DF
