For a Chamber of commerce fundraiser with a Las Vegas theme we made a Jack Daniels Chocolate Cake and raided the coke dispenser for syrup and used it as a base for the mousse filling. Covered it with a thin coke/choc/Jack Daniels ganache. Topped it with fondant red and black club, spade, heart, and diamond shapes. Our entry titled "Jack and Coke" brought $800.00!

If the State Fairs get a hold of it they'll use the batter to fry twinkies, or snickers bars or some gross thing........ That seems to be the new competition at the CA State Fair- see what sort of gross thing you can serve....... this last year it was Krispy Kreme donuts made into ham sandwiches. I confess I like donuts, but not with ham.....yuk!!!!

Learning to cook as a child (about 1952) my first successful adventurous recipe was to prepare pancakes made with 7-Up. I thought I was "IronChef" that morning. But I came to my senses a short time later trying to make a two layer cake with one green and one red layer. One bottle of red food coloring in one layer, one layer of green food coloring in the other. Talk about hockey pucks!!!!!

Default Las Vegas cake

To NOWIAMONE,
This is how great recipes are born! Sometime you have to "go for it"!
Happy to hear the cake took $ 800
I changed or added things in cakes and cookies and turned out holiday "must have" desserts! It's called thinking outside the box
