| Just spent a couple of days food styling for Robin Miller's book tour.....I'm finding it interesting that the publishers are sending out people on tour and we're getting mostly television personalities.... Robin Bobby Flay Alton Brown Lynn Rosetto Kasper (radio) Anyway, Robins recipes were simplistic but tasty. I'm just finishing a dinner of pasta salad with oil cured olives, orange zest, rosemary, oj/olive oil/dijon dressing....oil cured olives make all the difference in the world, kalamata would not be the same. The banana pudding parfait was stupid easy and really good. Vanilla yogurt, ripe bananas, vanilla wafers and whipped topping.....except for the topping it was just good. Food styling, shlepping and making things look beautiful, not so different than off site catering. |

| so you had the chicken with dijon almonds in a waldorf salad and the curried tomato, baby corn dish. If you bought her cookbook check out the pasta salad with oil cured olives, orange zest, mandrian oranges, rosemary dressed with a vinagrette. Winner in my book. I'll use it again. What impresses me about Robin is that she's self taught and has written for cooking magazines for 18 years.....she's been on or worked for the food network since the beginning. Really got her act together and what a 100 watt smile. Tourring is a bear, you are on the road going from strange city to strange city, having different drivers, various food stylists do your food.....think about having to take care of laundry, or just the time it takes getting to the airport, getting on a plane, flying somewhere, crashing at a hotel....grueling. 9 cities in 10 days. |
