That may be true, but if you are going to work in a country where English is not their language, you'd be wise to be conversant in that language before you get there... and if you work in the US, learning Spanish is a good idea!

everyones got there own thoughts on the best place to be and I personally think that New Zealand at the moment is where it's at. The amount of fresh produce and the different types makes for an exciting and interesting menu. whilst we are a small country in the world arena we've got some amazingly talented chefs here. if anyones got some questions feel free to drop me a line.

Hello all,
I am new to these boards, but so far have found them very informative. Its nice to see such a community. I am currently on the east coast, but my favorite place to cook so far was easily Portland, Oregon....beautiful area, near the ocean and the mountains, the people generally know a lot about food and wine, and there is a nice availability of local organic prroduce, and local wines. A truely amazing area to live and cook.
