its the same over here amidst all the gloom and doom there is no shortage of jobs in hospitality. I am currently looking for work and am very busy with interviews.

yeah here in upstate its definitely slowed down... granted it is winter and we have horrible weather but ive never had a harder time trying to get a good job here... ive had to lower my standards quite a bit..

Something about those numbers doesn't seem to ring true for me.
At $40,794 per year the hourly rate is $19.61 based on full time work of 2080 hours. Most everyone I know that is cooking for a living is making far less per hour than that and most don't have full time work at one place. They work two or three part time jobs and make between $20,000 and $28,000 per year.
