Default Anyone Have A Recipe For Pumpkin Scones?

I remember responding to Isa's post on scones a while back and I and a friend of mine were discussing Thanksgiving ideas just now. My friend suggested trying to make some pumpkin scones for the holiday meal. Has anyone ever had this type of scones and does anyone have a recipe I could use to make them? I have agreed to bring something to the dinner; I have never had scones before so I asked her if she's had some. She said she had some raspberry ones before. If anyone could respond to this post with a recipe, it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Patrick, I greatly appreciate your response to my topic and the recipe you posted! Do you know where I could find some pumpkin puree? I don't think I have seen that in the stores here and I would like to try your recipe. If you could help me out here, it would be greatly appreciated!

Afra,
You will find pumpkin puree in the baking aisle in the grocery store with things like flour, sugar, cake mixes, spices, yeast, chocolate chips and evaporated and skim milks. Especially around this time of year the stores will have it on an end cap with other items used to make pumpkin pies. I think Libby's is the most widely available brand. I recommend making your own though-get a small sugar pumpkin, seed it and slice into wedges. Place on a greased cookie sheet and cover with foil. Bake until it's fork tender (I do it at 425, but other people use a lower temperature). Peel off the skin and puree the flesh.

Default pumpkin scones/puree

hi there is nothing better than fresh pumpkin roasted but remember that you will need to place it in some cheese cloth and let it hang for it has a high moisture content and if you are making scones you don't need any extra moisture. overnite or 6-9 hrs would be enough. pumpkin puree ina jar rather than a can you get that metal taste, a good healthfood dtore or a whole foods would have what you need. make sure you don't OVERMIX your scone dough that maked em tough.
i prefer a free form shape rather than a pie slice or a round cut out.
happy baking

I made the pumpkin scones for Thanksgiving like I said I would. I greatly appreciate your sharing the recipe you have with us, pjm, because my friend and I really enjoyed them! We have some leftovers from both flavors I made, pumpkin and eggnog. Thanks once again!
