If there were a sugar-free option, such as using Splenda or Truvia (stevia) which are "more natural" than Equal or Sweet n Low, I'd like to use that for the cake. I have found some sugar-free options for icing, but if there's a sugar-free fondant that would rock! But since fondant is just confectioner's sugar, glycerin and corn syrup (plus other stuff I can't remember), I don't think it's possible

I think for one slice of cake, one time, he'll be okay with Splenda or Truvia. However, using the real stuff might cause some immediate problems for the steroid induced diabetes.
