| Sometimes I make my own tacos at home because taco is one of my favorite dishes. I do like eating at the taco restaraunts but I can't afford to eat out every day. Does anyone have any good recipes for tacos that I could try? I would like recipes for the hard shell rather than the soft one, because I eat this type of the taco shell more than the other one. I know a method of mixing ground beef with taco seasonings then putting it in the shell, along with lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, and sour cream on top of that. However, I omit the tomatoes because I am allergic to them. I can have them cooked and mixed in other things but I can't have them raw and by themselves. If anyone could respond to this topic with some really good recipes for me to try, I would greatly appriciate it! ![]()

| Hey Afra, I usually make either the hard or soft shell tacos, and I just mix the meat and seasonings, then when I put them together I top the meat with cheese and sour cream, the lettuce and tomatoes go to everyone else, 'cause I don't like lettuce and I'm also allergic to tomatoes. But anyway something else you can try when making tacos, is adding mushrooms to the ground beef. Do you ever make any other mexican foods, like quesadillas, burritos, or chimichangas ?, these can all be made very simply and fairly healthy. I forgot to mention another dish (that's why I'm editing this post), anyways the taco paco is another easy dish to prepare, and it's very filling. | Down here in the land of Texmex, soft tacos are usually the rule; but you find everything used as a filling. White fish with fruit salsas, pulled chicken (poach with taco seasonings and shred or cook with cumin and cinnamon and a little chile powder), pork and green chile, picadillo (ground beef in a brown gravy with little chunks of potato, onion and green chile--the spice is from chiles v. taco seasonings), also fajita tacos (chunks of chicken or beef with onion and pepper). Vegetable tacos (spinach, mushroom, onion). There are also a lot of breakfast tacos (always soft on tortillas). For breakfast tacos there are: egg and salsa, egg and potato, egg and bacon, egg and polish (kielbasa), egg and chorizo, (combinations of the above), bean, bean and potato, potato and chorizo, etc... If you are interested in soft tacos, I suggest buying flour or corn tortillas and freezing what you can't use (if you put wax paper inbetween the tortillas (or between every 2 or 4) you can take out however many you need. You are limited only by your imagination- Good luck and enjoy!
