Post Black Walnut Layer Cake with Creamy frosting

I am searching for a recipe for "Black Walnut Layer Cake", it was searved at several resturants a few years ago. I have looked everywhere for the recipe. It was served chilled, and had a creamy white frosting. It was yummy. Does anyone have such a recipe to share?

PJ: is this what you are looking for?

Black Walnut Cake

"This is a delicious cake, and may also be baked as three 8-inch layers. If you do, use black walnuts mixed with some icing to fill the layers, and ice with the plain icing. Then sprinkle top with additional chopped black walnuts."

Makes 1 tube cake

Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
Average Rating: Not yet rated

Ingredients:
1 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1 1/2 cups white sugar
5 eggs
3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped black walnuts
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
1/4 cup butter
4 cups sifted confectioner's sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped black walnuts

Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
2) In a large bowl, cream 1 cup butter, shortening, brown sugar, and white sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt, and add alternately with milk to the creamed mixture. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1 cup black walnuts. Pour batter into prepared pan.
3) Bake in the preheated oven for 80 to 90 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.
4) In a mixing bowl, cream together cream cheese and 1/4 cup butter. Add confectioner's sugar, beat well. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla. Frost cooled cake, and sprinkle with 1/2 cup nuts.

Hope this helps you out!
