| My 80 year old mother loves this soup, but I've been unable to find a recipe for her. Any ideas? |

| Here's a recipe for Portuguese soup that may work: Saute' onions and garlic in olive oil. Add 1# sliced smoked sausage and brown lightly. Add 3 qts of beef broth,16 oz kidney beans (cooked), 1 head chopped cabbage,1# new potatoes (quartered),4-8 oz cider vinegar, 1 pt ketchup. This may not be what you are looking for, but, this is a great soup. I make it for my vegan daughter by using veggie broth (and leaving off the sausage, of course!) I have no idea why this is called Portuguese soup;the recipe came to me from a cook at a small Texas restaurant that is gone now. |
