I am getting married on Dec. 30th this year and my wife-to-be and I are going to Disney World for our honeymoon. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas about a good place to go for a quiet, romantic dinner? Most of our days will be spent eating fast food and the typical theme park fare, but I would like to have a couple of nice meals while there. Thanks!

Excellent topic, Pete, as Disney is one of my favorite things to talk about. Your best bet is one of the higher-class on-site resort restaurants. I hear the restaurant at the Grand Floridian, Narcoosee's, is quite excellent. Menu includes lobster, baby conch, rare tuna fillet, swordfish and roasted grouper with crabmeat crust, filet mignon, chicken, Orrecchiette pasta, double rack of lamb and gator steaks.

If you are interested in steak, the Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht and Beach Club is also recommended. Prices can go up to $60 per entree. You can head over to Intercot.com to get more info.

Personally, I'm not as much into the romantic atmosphere. If you want FUN, try the Hoop Dee Do Revue at Ft. Wilderness. Lots of fun dining in an Old West atmosphere, includes a show.

Just my thoughts. Congrats on getting married.

Thanks for the help Chiliboy. We too are more into the fun aspect, but since it is our honeymoon we do want to do at least one romantic thing. (lol) About the Hoop De Do Revue, I heard the show is great, but that the food is terrible, any comments? Anyone else have any ideas for me or reviews of disney restaurants?

Pete, the food is OK. I was there with the family a couple years back, and we actually stayed at Ft. Wilderness, so it was more of the ambiance then anything else.

Hey if you are stay at Disney itself. Do a Honey Moon package and you get a chef in your room for a night or breakfast with the package I believe. Also some other things as well.

Disney is where we went on our honeymoon 20 years ago. Now that's where I work.

The most romantic place to dine, and the best food, is the California Grill. It is on the top of the Contemporary Hotel and overlooks the Magic Kingdom. You want to make your reservations about 1 1/2 hours before the fireworks are scheduled to go off. That usually times it so that you are having dessert when the lights in the restaurant go down and you have a spectacular view of the fireworks over the castle. I would recommend walking out on the verandah to see the fireworks.

Victoria and Albert's

I stayed at the Grand Floridian for 4 days (then 3 on the Disney Magic ship) two years ago. The Unofficial Guide (Bob Sellinger) was required reading for previewing the restaurants (so we could reserve before arrival), not to mention great strategies for getting to see everything. We did not eat great food, but did better than expected, still for waay too much money but we just planned on that and didn't worry.

The Hoop-de-doo was a major disappointment for me (sorry chiliboy). So-so food (fine) wasn't the problem so much as the extreme cornball show that you are kind of stuck at for an evening, since you are in the middle of nowhere. All you can eat food, so good value for big eaters. You get all you can drink beer and wine, but it is very low end. Nice Great Hall, though.

Lunches we liked: The Brown Derby in MGM Studio, nice atmosphere, straightforward food. Spoodles at the BoardWalk, Mediterranean food interestingly spiced, casual, friendly and un-chain-like. Chefs de France in Epcot, not everything was great but enough things stood out, good service.

Oddly, I can't remember much about dinner.
Have a ball, we did.

There is also a rotating restaurant at The Land in Epcot. Unique atmostsphere, decent food, might be worth investigating.

No harm done. The kids loved it, though. As as we stayed at the Ft. Wilderness campground, it was close.
