| | Chicagoland - all you can eat - sushi?? During my recent trip to Virginia Beach / Norfolk area, I had lunch buffet at an all you can eat sushi place called Misako.
One of my Japanese friends got me hooked to Sushi and I can't seem to get enough of it because it creates a big hole in my pocket.
Any recos for Sushi buffet type of place in Chicago? All you can eat for a reasonable price. |

| |  If such a place actually existed with fresh, well-made sushi, my family could put them out of business in one night. We've each been know to polish of entire sushi boats (we're talking $50-60 boats) and order more.
I can't see how such a place could possibly make money, but I hope they can and I hope I find it. |

| | the one I went into Virginia Beach called Misako had Sushi menu all-you-can-eat for lunch only at a decent price of about 10 or 12 dollars a person.
there weren't exotic ones just the regular salmon, tuna and some reddish one. they were making all 3 different kinds - fish on top, green-wrapper (sorry don't know name) on outside and on inside as well.
they had some intermediate ones like spicy tuna and a couple more (one had sprinkling of caviar as well)
then they also had fried sushi and some cooked food for my friend who took me there and was totally turned off by the idea of eating raw fish. |

| | I'd LOVE a sushi all you can eat, Even if I had to drive 4+ hours to get there. Chicago's more likely to get one before St. Louis is.

edited to add: the recos are for kaitenzushi (converyor belt sushi?) places

| | At Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg is Todai. It is located on the west side of the mall and it has all you can eat sushi as well as some hot dishes, a noodle/soup station and a desert station. Quality of the sushi is good, but what do you expect when they have to produce it en mass. It is usually packed, and you can tell the place is decent with the number of asians that eat there. If you go, I recommend get there at least 15 minutes before they open (they do shut down between lunch and dinner) and stand in line! Once you are shown to the table and they take your drink order (they do have sake and asian beers) head right for the sushi line. Many times have got in the line to find someone had just finished off all the somked unagi!
I love sushi, and if you think you love it, Todai will challenge you! After I am done eating there (and I roll myself out the door!) I could easilly go without sushi for a month!
One last thing, if you go ON your birthday with someone else, they will give you a certificate to come back for a free meal (with a paying guest) within 90 days. I have always gone for lunch, never dinner. But I hear at dinner the have a more extensive menu (i.e. crab legs, etc).

| | I remember one now. There's a place in St. Charles just west of the mall on the North side of the street. They have the sushi boats which go around and you just pick what you want. It's AYCE but not that great. It's been at least 4 years since I've been there so that may have changed since. |

From your basic California rolls (they have a couple of different types, so if you have a friend that doesn't want "real" sushi, this is a great place to take them!) to the one I mentioned earlier..
