Higgins is super
Great bakeries in Portland, I went to a restaurant that had the prettiest pastires I've ever seen and I've searched. I'll dig out my notes.
The groceries are really cool cus they have an asst of cookies, pastries, breads from various shops in town.
hmmmm....check out Chef's Collaborative members they usually have local artisonal fun food.

checkout chowhound.com too

One of the places on my list next time we do a trip to OR is Wildwood Restaurant, just because I enjoy the recipes in the cookbook. Have never been though.

I ate at Wildwood a year ago and it was good.
There are a few in that neighborhood that are wonderful.

A while back a local weekly had a "contest" for a new motto for Portland, ME, which used to be called Elm City before they had to cut down all the elm trees. My favorite was "No! The other Portland!"
