So much for the importance of presentation!

What's next? Deadening your tongue so you can only encounter textures?

That has got to be the second most insane idea I ever heard of. I guess it keeps your utility overhead down but what if there is a fire or natural disaster and everybody tramples each other trying to flee.

The only dumber idea I ever heard of was the "raw food" movement not Sushi mind you but just raw food. I can chop my own carrot sticks thanks very much and I don't feel like shelling out $15 for a cup of cold soup.

I like the presentation side of the equation of food too much to eschew it (although taste and texture will always be king for me)... and as for raw food little do most raw food enthusiasts know that "raw" cashews are processed with high heat to get rid of the inedible elements before you end up with the nut itself.

I've been to a couple restaurants over the years that were so dimly lit, they were practically in the dark (romantic did you say? well okay if your date is so ugly you don't WANT to look at them..LOL) but to actually turn out the lights for dinner???? wonder what the dress code is-- not like anyone is going to see you anyhow.... and think of the $ you could save in FOH decor.....haha I guess I'm with Blue on this one- I like the presentation too-- sauces, garnishes, etc..... guess we are old- fashioned...LOL

I wonder how you actually order the meal. You must be seated in a lighted area first to choose what you want.

It would be an interesting experience...but you'd probably only want to try it once.

I remember seeing a restaurant in Zurich called something like the Blind Cow which was a restaurant without lights - that was way back in 2000 or 2001. I wonder if it is still there?

This came from the same minds that brought us the water bar.

Wow that is definitely something. I don't think I could eat at a place like that though. I have to be able to see what I am eating. I don't like dimly lit places lol
