Default REALLY Fresh Basil

Yesterday I had lunch in a little Vietnamese restaurant which was located in a mini mall. Reviews were good, so I thought I'd give it a try.

The people at a nearby table, located half way across the room, ordered some Pho and were served some fresh Thai basil along with it. I've never seen basil served this way before: the herb was delivered to the table on freshly cut branches and the diners pulled the leaves off, tore them, and added them to the soup. Can't get muchfresher than that! The aroma of fresh Thai basil carried clear across the room. Wonderful!
