| | NYC Restaurant recommendations My husband's birthday next week and we always like to go to a fancy restaurant for the occasion. He wouldn't mind going to Gordon Ramsay's Maze again but I thought it'd be nice to try something different. Has anyone dined at a particularly good restaurant in NY? What can you tell me about the following restaurants?
Grammercy Tavern
Le Cirque (went there 10 years ago for lunch and it was great although I wasn't much of a foodie back then)
Nobu57
Picholine
Babbo

Babbo | I cant tell you anything about the places above but I can tell you that I have been to Tao and it was great, my fiance went to Perilla for brunch this past summer and we are going there for my birthday in Feb.

I went recently and it was the best lunch I think I've ever had. The cocktail bar is top notch too. I recommend the lamb duo.
Gramercy was my other best meal I've ever had. Great bar for a pre-dinner cocktail as well.
Take a look at Babbos menu....some don't care for the menu, but make no mistake the food is still pretty good, so if you like the menu, sure, but It wouldn't be top on my list.
Skip Le Cirque unless you're just interested in a scene.
Jean-Georges, I had a great great meal there, and the best. dessert.ever.... but I just don't dig the atmosphere much, but no doubt great food.
I'd go to 11 madison or gramercy |

| | These are great suggestions. I've seen Tao, always been curious but I didn't know if it was just hype. Harold Dieterle's Perille seems very middle eastern infused, surprising from harold. Eleven Madison sounds good too, too much to choose from but hubby will be making the final decision since it's birthday.

| | Id go give Nobu a try.... ive heard very good things from fellow cooks and ive read a bunch about Chef Nobu Matsuhisa. His approach on the food he cooks intrigues me and once i get the funds and time to travel 6 hours to NYC ill be eating there with a big smile on my face. |

| | Update: We finally decided to try Anthos, an upscale greek restaurant run by Donatella and chef Michael Psilakis. We've been wanting to go for ages. But alas on his birthday my hubby reallllly didn't feel like going into the city and cancelled our res. We ended up going to our favorite local sushi restaurant instead which was as good as it always is. I really did want to go to Anthos though and will find a time to go soon.

| | Hey,
How was the birthday at Anthos? It's one of the successful restaurants run by Michale Psilakis and one of my favorite too.
