Default Frontera

And I think Nicko will agree with me on this, Frontera (Rick Baylesses place) is incredible. There wasn't a dish on the table that wasn't full of flavor. I recommend it anytime you are in Chicago. Get in line early (4:45, opens at 5) to get your name on the list. SHow up at 6 and you might have a 1.5 hour wait.

Thumbs up Logan, you are SO right

I still remember a lamb dish I had at Frontera 10 years ago! (Right around the time of the flood downtown.) What you didn't mention, though, is how really wonderful both Rick and Deann are. I adore his books, because he really cares about getting it right. And having met her professionally, I could not wish a more humane manager.

Rick is charming and his recipes are easy to cook from.

To be fair, I've eaten at Frontera and Topolobampo at least 100 times since they were born, no joke. I've never had a bite of food that wasn't PERFECT, in every way. The service has always sucked, though, very indifferent and faux-knowledgeable. I especially like their preachiness about Mexican this-and-that when they're playing Puerto Rican music!!!

Question David Jones: What prompted all that?

I don't want to come across as Goody-Two-Shoes, but I was rather surprised at the viciousness of your comments. This is a very different board from, say, Chowhound, where "delicousness is all" and sometimes courtesy be damned. Were the personal attacks really necessary? And if you regret having given a tip, as you stated in your post on Fortunato, just delete your post; no need to be snotty.
