Talking Mirepoix, Li Ny

I visited Mirepoix in Glen Head on Long Island last night and WOW. Definitely worth the trip. (A plus is that it is right next to the train sta so all of you city dwellers can visit easily and have virtually no walk to transportation or have to spend $ on a cab.)
They have a website so you can view a sample menu, including specials but when I went the menu had changed. Nonetheless I was not in the least disappointed. One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Owner visited the table and was a super nice person. Link is http://www.li4u.com/Eat/MenuLI.asp?n...d&v=FineDining
Let me know if you agree and what you'd compare it to.
Enjoy
P.S. The dessert choc souffle is out of this world.

Default LIRR

Hi Suzanne,
I had a feeling this post would pique your interest.

Here's the link to the LIRR map:
http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/lirr/html/lirrmap.htm
Follow from Penn to Jamaica and then to the green Oyster Bay Line. Above the word "Nassau" see the Glen Head station. (You may have to transfer once in Jamaica, if that.)
Just call the restaurant to confirm that this is the correct stop and they should be able to tell you what to do when you get off.

Hope you will agree with me that this is a diamond in the rough.
Let me know what you think.
Valerie
