Rfriend's intro Hello one and all,
I am a college student (computer science major) working on my second carear. In my quest for an education, I tripped over some culinary courses and they looked mighty interesting. So I took a few.
If you can believe it, I actually have done very little cooking previous to this. I actually thought getting the time correct on the microwave was an expeirnced culinary technique and could push the start button with the best of them.
Then I got a taste of education. Wow! What an eye opener. All those years I took Mom for granted. And now I realize there was more to just the hot food on a plate. I really enjoy the science of it all - food presentation, spices, stocks, sauces, cuts of meat, fatty and lean fish, heating methods,(ect..) oh my!
So I have a little education, even less expierence, but a whole lotta enthusiem (and totally zero spelling skills). I don't see myself pursing a carear in these arts, but I certianly have come to respect it and have come here, to learn as much as I can handle.
I am not so sure I like the term gourmet chef, but I do desire to set an unforgetable table with food that is cooked just as well as those 100 dollar menu places. I believe if they can do it, I should be able to come close.
I am happy to be here, and look forward to discuss any culinary topic I can participate in. |
