Hello Cloudybutnice, and welcome to Chef Talk. You're right: this is a wonderful place to learn and share, no matter your experience level, background, etc. We have some vegetarians here and many chefs who share information on providing vegetarian/vegan dishes and pastry for their clients. If you do a search on this board you'll find recipes for cakes, main dishes, etc. within various conversations we've had in the past. If you'd like to post a question, recipe or comment, simply choose the best forum and start a thread of your own. If you're not a professional, the pros' forums are open to you as read-only; but we encourage you to browse there and enjoy them. The rest of the board is open to both reading and posting for those of us who are home cooks (like me).
