Smile Where to start...

I was lured to this site by another participant, and have enjoyed sampling some of the members' reparte...

When asked for my "experience" I couldn't find a category for "Former Snack Bar Operator", and since that was 30 years ago, I opted for the "Home Cooking" designation.

My current position is as an engineer in the aerospace community, and husband to a wonderful cook, trained by Texarkana/Oklahoma country type folks. I think we've still got a coffee cup of bacon drippings somewhere in the fridge...

As a part time interloper in the kitchen, I enjoy cooking food that I know, and occasionally try something "new", frequently winding up pleasantly suprised.

My main dishes are extremely simple, in the "meat & taters" vein (read midwest back yard BBQ burgers-brats-chops&steaks), with a dash of Sonoran spice to get the party rolling.

I want to expand my skills, as I enjoy preparing food for others, and get a sense of completion when that first bite causes their eyes to close, shoulders slump, and then hear a satisfied "Uuuummmm"...

Thanks for setting up such a forum that we may learn more...

Thanks to all of you!

(I've actually tasted some of oldschool's fare, and it was dee-lish-uss!! - we know each other from some large scale train hobby activities)

I've been making a few comments here and there in the forums, and have found a ton of stuff to keep my mind reeling...

Great cross section of contributors and members here!!
