Smile a newbie needs help. :)

Hello to all chefs and chefs-to-be!!! How’s everything?
Allow me to introduce myself 1st..
Am jco, a female aspiring chef from the land of smiles! Am currently having my second major/degree. Taking up culinary. Ill be graduating this December 2006. In our school, getting an externship (apprentice / training / internship) in a hotel is a must. I was thinking of doing mine in U.S. preferably in New York or Los Angeles. Most of u might ask why abroad? Why not in your country? Why U.S.? Because after that externship requirement I really want to pursue my dreams in U.S. I plan to work there. I believe it would be easier to find a job.
Right now, my problem is.. Do any of you know any hotel that accommodate international trainee or apprentice? I would be more than happy to know your opinions or simply just hear from you. I hope u guys can help me pursue and make that dream a reality. Thanks a lot!! Good luck to you all. God bless u!

Not trying to take Mezzalunas job but you would be better off posting this in the Culinary Schools Forum no one will think to look for it here and welcome to Cheftalk.

Welcome JCO! We hope you browse the forums and take a look at all the wonderful things we have to offer here at Chef Talk.

As Rook said, you'd get a better response posting your question in the Culinary Students/Culinary Schools forum. We have plenty of culinary students and instructors here! I take it that you live outside the US now. You may want to visit the Global Chefs' forum too. Finally, our search feature can help you find more discussions we've had in the past.

Do some reading here, then post your question where it fits best. We hope Chef Talk will lead you to great things!

Regards,
Mezzaluna
