Default Hello ya'll

Been cruising this place for a while and love it. I signed up recently and would like to say hello from the currently sunny and beautiful though currently coliform contaminated California central coast. I hope alliterations are allowed in this forum. TD

Slo_Ted, alliterations are allowed and always accepted. (I guess they're something else when the words start with vowels, but I'm not sure I remember what....)

As you are a physician, I hope you haven't had e-coli-stricken patients show up in your practice. I confess I've been avoiding all bagged greens and others seem to be as well. The poor baby arugala in the store today looked quite limp.

What do you enjoy cooking? My brother's a hematologist/oncologist who cooks a mean pot of gumbo with the fabulous Gulf Coast shrimp he can get in Florida.

Enjoy this community and all its features. We'll look forward to your posts.
Regards,
Mezzaluna

Default welcome

Thank you, Mezzaluna, for the friendly welcome. I work in a busy urgent care clinic in San Luis Obispo, and fortunately we've had no surge in gastroenteritis. I love all kinds of cooking but have not ventured into baking. I vastly prefer savory to sweet, but I do want to get into breads one day real soon now. Grilling is one of my favorite things to do, but lately I've become fascinated with Low and Slow so I have been smoking meats, Texas style briskets, Carolina style pork butts and braising as well. Salad, whether before or after, is essential and this problem with contamination of greens is scary! I agree with you that there is nothing magical about spinach, this could happen to any greens, maybe any crop. The situation is made worse by our ignorance of how this happened. Maybe I'll rip out the lawn and plant a garden. TD
