Default New to Chef Talk

Hello, my name is Tony, my friends call me TBone. I live in the Chicago area, well West Burbs actually. I'd consider myself a home cook right now but I'm trying to get a catering busines off the ground. I've had a passion for cooking and entertaining since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Most of my knowledge came from Mom and Grandma in the kitchen. I've taken a few cooking classes but nothing formal. I hope to share some of my knowledge with you guys/gals and also learn some new things as well. Well I've rambled long enough.

Hi TBone and welcome to Chef Talk. A lot of what you said about yourself describes me, too. I grew up a it farther west (Quad Cities) but know the Chicago area pretty well. I also had wonderful home cooks to teach me the basics. I think the emotional aspects of cooking are best learned this way.

Good luck in your quest to get the catering business started! You'll want to hang out in the Professsional Catering forum to ask questions of the people with some experience under their belts.
