Default Aloha to all.

hey guys,

i'm new to the board. currently, i am one of the prep cooks at Alan Wong's Restaurant (have you guys heard of it?) in Honolulu, HI. i am very excited to join you guys because i've been wanting to find a professional community in the industry outside of the kitchen. i've always had a passion for preparing food and making people happy. and while i am months away from a psychology degree, i've chosen to reapproach my desire to cook professionally. i am listed as a culinary student but only because i couldn't find "prep cook". so i look forward to getting to know you all.

Aloha, 9ballprodigy, and welcome to the best community on the web for professionals and foodlovers! There's plenty here for you to dig into (cooking articles, cookbook reviews, recipes....) and a good search tool to navigate the information efficiently.

A ton of people here are career-changers, so I'm sure you'll find plenty of people who've made the same course correction you have.

My husband and I haven't yet been to Hawaii, but it's on our short list of future trips. Maybe we'll be able to stop in and say hello!

Enjoy your visits- the more frequent the better, of course!

hey rick. NB is fine. except for a giant dent in the front from a CRX.

mezzaluna- let me know if you'll ever dine with us, i can recommend some really great entrees we do.

Welcome to the forums 9Ball! Good to see local chefs take advantage of the resources here. I'm not in the restaurant business these days, but I enjoy hearing the latest in Hawaii regional cooking. I use a lot of these ideas in my catering business, and as a personal chef. Aloha no!
