Default Cook wanting to become a chef...

My name is james, my nickname is Jamesford. I have about 2 years of cooking experiance, I am 19 years old and I plan on attending culinary school in the sping semester. I currently work at a Kentucky State Park Lodge, as seasonal help (have been working there about 2 months, and I am going to try to get a full time cook position... The assistant chef, as well as the park administrators are also pulling for me, so I have a good chance of getting it).

I love cooking, although I don't know too much about it yet. I am learning more and more each day thanks to my co-workers, who are always more than willing to teach someone who is eager to learn.

I look forward to learning from all of you as well, and hopefully being able to bring something of substance to a topic or two, but I am mostly here to learn.

It's nice to meet you, James! You sound like a person with your nose pointed in a direction that will take you wonderful places. I'm sure the professionals here will agree that your attitude of learning from everyone you come in contact with is a secret to success.

You'll enjoy browsing the forums, but I'm certain you'll learn from the cooking articles, cookbook reviews and recipes here as well. We have a forum for culinary students (and those headed that way), so I know you'll want to hang out there. Our search tool will help you easily locate topics we've discussed in the past.
