Smile Hey everyone!

Hello from Pennsylvania! I am a new baby here but wanted to send out a hello to get started. I've been playing around in the kitchen for about 40 years now. I can't wait to soak up all the great pearls of wisdom. Rose

Default Thank you for the warm welcome

Hi Mezzaluna, The screen name came to me one late night not long ago. I like it alot too. My passion has always been baking. I love to bake breads, cakes, pastries, you name it. Pies, I am still working on. I have always loved the art of food. For awhile, 'in my younger days', making things 'from scratch' was fast becoming a lost art. It is a great way for me to play in the kitchen and give away my efforts. There's something about a hot soup on the stove with a great bread to go with it that just soothes your soul.

What's your favorite? Rose

Hi Rose!

I also love soup-making but I'm just now getting into pastry and breads. I've learned a lot being part of Chef Talk so now I'm more confident to tackle breads and pastries. Learning here about gluten in flour has given me a lot of insights into why my earlier efforts were uneven. There is a tradition of bread baking in my family, but not so much with pastry. I'm feeling my way along; my family and friends are eating the experiments.
