Default Hello from Germany

Hello my name is Heike I love and hate to cook, if I have time and cook with friends it is fantastic, but alone in hurry it is terrible. I give cooking courses for beginners and sell a very good German kitchen maschine.

I live near Cologne. If you have questions about German food or somethings else do not hesitate to contact me.

Welcome to Chef Talk, Heike. We are happy to have you join our community and hope you will enjoy participating in the forums as well as reading the articles, etc. we have here.

I understand perfectly what you mean when you say, "I love and hate to cook"! Deciding every day what to cook and making sure to have the ingredients in the house can be grinding on a daily basis. On the ohter hand, being creative about what to make for guests or a special meal is fun!

Are there dishes or ingredients from your area that you especially enjoy preparing?

We look forward to seeing you here often. Heißen Sie willkommen zu unserem Heim online.

I think one of the best food in Germany is the bread, You can go days into a backery and find always something new. From cologne you should try "Kölsch" this is a kind of beer only produced here and a "halve Hahn" bread with cheese no chicken. "Himmel und Äärd" are potatoes and appels translate heaven and earth. And one of my favourite is Reibekuchen. Small cakes makes from potatoes.

If you visit cologne do try this!

And thank you for the welcome!

I loved the crusty, fresh rolls I've eaten the several times I've been in Germany. The wheat and the water are so different from North America's! Eating bread in Germany (and all of Europe, really) is something I look forward to.
