Default Greetings From The Great White North

Good afternoon all.

Just a guy who enjoys cooking here. I do most of the cooking for our familly of four, (two growing boys 8 & 9, and the wife and I). We have a pretty busy lifestyle, what with the whole familly being active in sports, (hockey, baseball, soccer, cycling,etc.). We like to eat GOOD food that is both nutritious and flavourful. We are quite militant about nailing all the food groups in our diet, and religiously follow Canada's Food Guide. (I'm guessing you folks to the south have something similar.)

I'm allways looking for new tips, recipies, and techniques to help get the most out of what we eat.

Cheers,
JVJ

Welcome, JVJ! We have a thriving community of Canadians here and we all play well together.

Yes, we do have a recently-revised eating plan. Of course, as soon as some type of plan is announced, various contingents howl about how it has too many carbs, too few carbs, too much/too little fat, etc. You sound like you have a reasonable and happy eating tradition in your family, so enjoy! Depending on where you are you may have wonderful regional or local proteins, veggies, fruits and carbs to play with: ocean or freshwater fish and seafood, berries and grains/rice, interesting protein sources (buffalo, elk, etc.). It'd be interesting to hear how you might work these into your family's fare.

Please make yourself at home; explore the site and participate in the forums. We'll look forward to seeing you here!

Regards,
Mezzaluna
