Hmm

some call it writers block............

You need a muse! Distract yourself in a hobby, then return fresh.
Have you read any good books lately? seen movies? sent out your resume? vacation???

Happens all the time to all of us, just ride it out or do something positive to change things!

Hope it all works out soon.

Yeah we all get this way sometimes! We are in a ever constant sense of thinking and creating sometimes we "run out of breath" so to speak when are minds are "jogging" on a regular basis. Maybe you need to take a breather and get input on ideas from your co-workers, or take a vacation or some of the other suggestions like posted above! Or adventure into another aspect of the food industry for a while to get your ideas bulit up again! At this point in time my job is really limiting in expressing my individual creativity (I work for a hospital). But I have been gaining a number of ideas and have the time right now to really think about what my creativety can unleash when i need it in the near future! Good Luck!

Ditto~ I am very creative but sometimes a dry spell hits and I rely on old favorites...usually give it a couple weeks and something sparks an interest again.....I stay active in many groups that have food educational bents to them. I go out to eat and see what others are doing, or I go hang out in kitchens and brain storm....

Gotta love that name, sousfish! What usually brings me back is the annual food shows and conferences. I see all these great ideas, and it gets the juices flowing. If it's not show season, I just go to someone else's kitchen for a while and watch. Sooner or later, I figure I can do what they're doing, only better, so I'm back to my old self.

its called being human. unfortunately we all get a dry spell. to get off the subject of cooking, im very artistically inclined. i get so pissed when i feel like im trying to force out a project, so i'll direct my attention else where. for example, yesterday i couldnt sketch anything that i felt was "good" so i took some newspapers, packaging tape, a stapler, and community chest cards ,from an old monopoly game, and made a purse. lol make art out of junk. i never thought i could pull something like that off,

Hi Soufish and welcome to Chef Talk Cafe. I see you've already started a great discussion here in the Welcome Forum. I hope you'll visit the topical forums and join into discussions there.

Please come back to this forum and introduce yourself! What is your situation? What do you like to cook? Any regional or specialty ingredients you like to use?

Make yourself at home,
Mezzaluna
