 I thought I was wise..... about baking until I started reading all the posts. I joined a few weeks ago, and have been lurking daily ever since. I grew up in Minn., but the AF shuffled us around the world until we ended up outside of DC. I am truly humbled by all the knowledge and recipes that people are so willing to share here.

| Rina, yep, the air force sent us over to Germany for three years. Spent the first half of it up by Hameln, and the last of it down in Zweibruecken. Loved the entire tour, especially the brotchen, and the bakerei and our Herr Barr who delivered fresh brotchen every morning in his van, and the frits and the wine and the bier and the wurst...Our oldest son was born there, and learned to beg "bitte" strawberries from the Fraus at the markets. Didn't enjoy the extra 10 lbs. however..

 Wwelcome to Chef's chatter. Do very little baking myself, but love the exotic, you whet my taste buds and remind me of my visit to Munchen and Stuttgardt, the bakeries and meat delies are too much !!
