Default New wannabe chef here

Hi, everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm 25 and a newly graduated pharmacist. After all those years of schooling (7 years in college!) I pretty much swore to myself that I would never go back, but I'm recently very interested in going to cooking school. The only thing stopping me right now is the $$ issue, but hopefully in 5 years I will be able to.

My main interests right now are in cake baking. I LOVE CAKE. Right now I'm just trying to get a whole bunch of good basic cake recipes and will focus on the frosting/cake decorating a bit later. I love coming home from work and relaxing by baking a cake. The only bad part is doing the dishes!

Hopefully I'll be able to get a lot of good tips here so I can avoid some of my homemade disasters. Cheers!

Welcome, cherry121! This is indeed a good place to learn from others and to share your knowledge and experiences, too. We have many skilled home bakers and pastry chefs with whom I'm sure you'll want to hang out here.

I wonder if pharmacy and cooking are really that far apart. Both require a good knowledge of the constituent parts of various mixtures (ingredients vs. biological elements- not sure if this is the right word); both require a knowledge of what could result by combining the constituent parts in various proportions. I'm sure there's more, but you get the idea.

In any case, we hope you visit often and enjoy participating in the community!
