Default Hello from 54 year old student

Starting Culinary school Monday...getting exited. This is a 3rd career for me. I've always had a desire to do this, now I have the time! Looking foward to learning new skills from all of you.

Welcome to Chef Talk! What made you decide to go to culinary school? (If my health had been better when I retired from my first career at 53, I'd have considered it, too.)

Is there a particular area of the culinary world, aside from working in a kitchen that interests you? Since being part of this community I've learned that you can learn about being a food stylist, food writer or editor, etc.

Good luck in your new endeavor! You'll probably want to read here about Plongeur's experiences, and also the Culinary students' forums.

Welcome lango54! I am also starting later (I'm 44). I've been catering on the side for about 3 yrs. Although I've had many other jobs, cooking is one of my passions that keeps tapping me on the shoulder. That and music. My childhood was surrounded by both.

Cooking AND music.....great therapy!!
