Default Happy to know ya ^^

Hello all
I've been in the industry for about 18 years, and I'm 31 y/o. My mother was a chef, my grandfather was a chef, I love food!

(Kinda feels like an A.A. meeting huh? Oh, wait... we wouldnt know anything about that...)

Nice to join ya, I've seen plenty of great info on here already. I'm always trying to learn more.

It's nice to meet you, Nill! thanks for your introduction.

With a solid family history of cooking, can you share how you came to the profession? Can you recall the first dish or meal you prepared? For me that was a proud moment. I also cherish memories of cooking at the side of my grandmother and mother.

Besides our discussion forums, we have cooking articles, cookbook reviews, recipes, blogs and the photo gallery. I hope you explore all of them and participate in the discussion forums as well.

Welcome!

My mother couldnt afford a babysitter, so I'd hang out with her when she went to work. Usually id just sit in the staff room drawing pictures n such, but i have a vivid memory of peeling prawns when i was about 9 y/o. By the time I was 12 she put me to work dishwashing.

The first meat dish I ever prepared was a baked ham, that I made at home (all by my self) when I was 7.

Hi Nill,
Wecome. Hope to hear lots more from you.

Your AA reference reminded me of a time last year when i was putting no.2 son on the company van insurance. - He's a chef too. Anyway, in the UK, chefs are considered high risk for vehicle insurance as they have a tendency to alcoholism!!!!!... Actually many of the chefs i've worked with over the years do order a lot more booze than they put in the food.

Did ur mum make you whistle when u were peeling prawns? We always had to when shelling peas when we were kids, just so mum knew we wernt eating them
Speak soon
