Post new to this site (and career!)

Hi! Just wanted to say hello to all you! I graduated from culinary school in september and i amd currently working as a pastry chef,though I don't have much experience. I am the only one making the desserts, I guess I would call myself the Pastry chef. When does one consider herself/himself a chef? thank you in advanced!

And welcome to cheftalk.
As you browse through the forums i think you will find some sound advice.Vera,Please understand there is know real time line in which you can call yourself a "CHEF". For now put that idea behind you and really focus on the task at hand,Development. Becoming a chef is less so a title as it is the ability to master your craft/art..command the attention and respect of your staff. To be the best cook,baby sitter,technition in your kitchen. becoming a chef comes gradually...Hard work,promotion,more responseability help develope ones ability.also, with all do respect..The art of pastry work and the title of "pastry chef"is a very diffacult hill to climb. because you make the desserts in your place does not make you a pastry chef. Vera, I mean no disrespect by that statement,but I know to many pastry chefs that have dedicated there careers to the pursuit of that art.
allow your self the time to grow,allow yourself the oppurtunity to learn.
