Question cattail hearts

can any one help me iam looking for marinated cattail hearts

When you refer to the "heart" I assume you mean the tender peeled stalk.
I have to omit I have never seen cat-tials marinated for sale,but thats not to say it doesn't excist.do you know the pollen of certian variaties of Typha actually can be used as a flour to make bread.
I have heard cat-tials also called "cossack apsaragus"because it grows profusly in the marches of the Don.

Hello CVC and welcome to Cheftalk.

You will find that in very select specialty shops. I'm not sure about Kingston but you might be able to find that in Toronto. Certainly in Montreal...have some in my pantry...hmm, storage room. Yep, they got packed away with the rest of my house!

This year's crop should be available November 22 next.

I must say it took me a few minutes to figure out what cat tails were. For a second, I actually wondered if it was real cat tail then realised it could not be so.
