Hello Laura, and welcome to Chef Talk. We do have many more pastry chefs here at Chef Talk. Just take a look at the Professional Pastry Chefs Forum and dive in! You'll find even more information by using the search tool to look for topics.

How did you get into the pastry?

We'll look forward to your participation!

Well I wanted to get an apprenticeship as a baker on the cakes, so I got a job as a Kitchen Porter in the Caladh and fell in love with what the pastry chef did. Its funny coz when we were cleaning up at the end of the night i would just stand and stare at the pastry section and dream about it being mine
So I didnt get work experience at the bakers, and I left school went to college. Went through a bad patch and when I came out of it I sent off my CVs and now Im working in the best restuarant in Stornoway
Im following in the footsteps of the Caladhs pastry chef. Shes now left for college in Glasgow(the college I was wanting to go to), and is possibly going to be taught by Ann Brown. She is a double Gold Medal winner at the Culinary World Cup Championships

Hello and welcome to Cheftalk.
I'm from Edinburgh - it's been quite a few years since I was on Lewis, but I remember Stornoway with fond memories!
