Default rusty as all get out;-)

hello everyone.....what a great site, found it by accident and can't wait until i have a free hour, or six, to putz around on here.

i live in southeast arizona, in a small army town with no imagination (the town, not me, tee hee). too many franchises, not enough quirkiness or originality....sigh:-(

i'd like to say i'm a baker and a cook (definitely wouldn't call myself a chef), but i haven't done it professionally in 8 years.....is it like riding a bike???

currently working at a non-profit writing grant proposals, and the secretary spread is coming on fast, yikes!!! itchin' to get back into something food related....even if, for now, it's just reading forums.

lookin' forward to it......

helga

Hello - and welcome to Cheftalk!

Our members come from all over the world (I'm Scottish) - and all ability ranges - from those just starting out on their culinary adventure - through those of us (me!) who are extremely enthusiastic amateurs, to master chefs and cake makers!

Feel free to start your own threads - or join in on any that you find of specific interest. Try to read some of the amazing articles on here, or browse the great photographs.

Well Mustang.silly (great moniker btw )

If you is rusty - get some EVOO happening, loosen up the seized bits and get cooking!

It's a great community for inspiration, questions, answers, discussion - I am so glad I found Cheftalk too - I was getting very rusty.

Chees,
Daina

Was just re-reading your text and had to comment....
Here there's a brand of very earthy, delicious, multi-grain bread for sale. It's called "Helga's"

The jingle they use is: "Is the bread Helga's?", and they have very comical, saucy/sexy adds which really make me laugh, the location is a really old-fashioned brick and timber bakery with a big wood fired oven, flour all over the place, featuring a Swedish looking girl in traditional costume with 2 long blonde plaits (she is Helga) and there's an older big chunky baker who is in on the jokes, and they have great fun making the male apprentice embarassed.

It just clicked with me that your name is Helga, and want to get into dough again - the coincidence is great.

Bake on!
