Default Hello! Hallo! Ciao! Salut!

Hello,

My name is Justin and I'm a 21 year-old American student majoring in German and International Business. I'm nearly fluent in German and I know elementary Italian and French. Needless to say I enjoy learning new languages!

I also obviously enjoy cooking. I've grown up in a family in which cooking was always appreciated not only for the food part of it, but also for the time spent together with family and friends while doing it. However, due to the fact that I am a college student and don't have a lot of money, cooking a good meal from scratch usually only happens two to three times a week. However I continue to get my culinary fix watching my favorite Food Network shows: Good Eats and Iron Chef America.

My favorite dishes to make are Tagliatella alla Bolognese, Steak au Poivre, Garlic Chicken, anything to do with beef tenderloin, etc. Most of these recipes I learned from TV but the Bolognese one I learned while studying in Bologna, Italy. It's fantastic!

I look forward to learning much from these forums as well as meeting new people.

Hello Justin
Welcome to Cheftalk.

Sounds like you are going to be eminently employable with your language skills - so many students drop languages as soon as they can, hoping that because English is an international language, it'll be enough to get by!

The members here cover the whole spectrum of culinary skill, from just starting out to masterchefs. Feel free to jump in on any thread you find interesting, or start your own. The professional part of the boards is read-only for us amateurs, but I have gleaned a lot of interesting information from reading them. The articles on here and the photographs, too are well worth your time.
