Fruitcake - decorated

I have 30 + fruitcakes that have been resting in rum/brandy. I decided to decorate one of them with an edible star gazer lily.
1 - 5 of 5 photos
Fruitcake : pistachio flavoured buttercream, covered in fondant, then decorated with a star gazer lily made with gum paste, everything is edible.

I finished my 12 Christmas cakes last Sunday - they had been marzipaned and iced and decorated. 30? PHEW!
Only Black bun still need to be 'fed' next week in time for Hogmanay!

I was thinking of you when I was decorating these fruitcakes as I remembered the nice thread we had with bughut. The recipes in that thread are great, the same recipe I used to make mine. We can truly say they were made with love.
Happy cooking Ishbel.

I do miss Bughut! She's an Englishwoman, married to a Scot and living in Scotland. I have finally finished decorating mine, and they go out to my friends and family tomorow.
Merry Christmas to you and yours!

That fruit cake photo is gorgeous... I'm sure it tastes just as great!

Thank you sugarmuffin for the nice compliment. They are sprayed with brandy every 7 days for 2 1/2 months then coated in icing sugar then wrapped in cheesecloth, placed in a cool dark place to mature. They are decorated only when ordered. .
