My wife is part of a "bake one cake from one recipe book a month" group and this is Octobers cake. With no culinary experience, other than her passion for being in the kitchen, she makes some really nice creations.  I keep telling her to go get formally edjumakated.

My son's 9th b-day. The boy is a foodie-in-training He requested as his b-day theme: not spiderman or batman, but SUSHI!  

So we baked him a sheet of chocolate cake with a chocolate/cranberry ganache (featuring homemade cranberry preserves) and topped with with "sushi".  Made from rice crispies, marshmallow, several colored "taffy" type candies and dried fruit. 

Most important, he loved it!
