From reading Building a Better Burger, I learned much about burgers. After reading this, you will say to yourself, "there are more than cheeseburgers and veggie burgers there is a whole other world of burgers."
It was in 1991 that the Build a Better Burger National Recipe Contest and Cook-was first held. Today, Build a Better Burger is still held at Sutter Home in Napa Valley. Burgers that have been made include specimens from beef, pork, buffalo, lamb, poultry, seafood and vegetables. This book is a collection of some of the most outstanding entries from the Sutter Home competition.
When you have a burger, you look at its appearance before the first bite. The burgers vying in the contest have many different looks, even the bread. It is not just white, wheat and potato breads. To the contrary, some of the breads used include sesame bread, toasted breads, grilled breads and pita all of which make for a different type of burger in Building a Better Burger. With the burger itself, the same thing goes. There is more to a burger than cheese, ketchup, mustard, lettuce, onions, tomatoes and pickles. TO make the burger better, use a different type of topping such as peppers, mushrooms, pieces of mango, prunes, garlic, walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts and many more! Nuts do not have to be a snack anymore they can go right on the burger!
Overall, Building a Better Burger makes burger-making fun because there is so much more to the world than ketchup. McNair makes the different things you can do with breads, vegetables and fruits on a burger fascinating. Throw some blue cheese, mayo or even soy sauce on a burger! If you are the kind of person that sits at home and is always craving for a burger, try something from Building a Better Burger and you may end up a better burger builder. I would recommend Building a Better Burger to people that love trying new foods while still taking comfort in a hamburger.
