Pros: sturdy, solid construction, carbon-steel blade, full-tang, classic look
Cons: none in my opinion
For the record, I do not own this knife yet, but have used it (and the rest of the Meridian Elite series), which belonged to my roommate, for the last three years. Also, this review will be similar to my review of any Messermeister Meridian Elite series knife, as my liking of these knives is for pretty much the same reason for each.
I liked this knife initially because of its classic look and full-tang construction. I like a good solid knife, and although some prefer lighter knives I like this because I don't feel as if I am going to break it while I use it. It does have a bit of a heft to it, and initially can be a bit tiring to use all day, but with practice and daily use I found it to be a temporary issue.
I found this chef knife to be very comfortable to use, and very fast and precise with a bit of practice. It held up very well to daily use by me and my roommate, both at home and at work in a professional kitchen. It holds its edge well, and the only reason it is sharpened every three months is because it is a free service offered by the kitchen he works in. Prior to the kitchen he works in now, he had not had this knife sharpened since he was in culinary school and it was still VERY sharp when he began working in his current kitchen.
